Dear Michael:

What you say about late style's "economy of means" leans toward us. I photograph the woods not from nostalgia, aging's pejorative
myth, but because, while cities are designed with approved plans, wilderness teaches intuitive trust. Being human heeds both. As I
sense that an artist's technique must embody the spirit of place, taking a picture this season of my life tolls the cold snap of death.
