Philosophy’s
foundation: Is the rock in
the garden or in my mind? Natural Law
natural no more.
In his Amsterdam studio,
Rembrandt
painted himself as a scraggy buddha
with “hard-lines cross the brow.”
On Cold Mountain Hanshan
brushed
poems onto stones amongst "peach
trees and plums," a rock for a pillow.
Stones on a mountain,
on the moon
and reddening Mars, on green Earth
in the rock garden cooling at sunset.
