Two decades after his epic
was launched, Ody ruled
Ithaka
again.
But hero and mythos had one more obligitory journey to perform.
King and Bard set out, one carrying
a "well-planed oar," the other
his well-made verses, Exchanging tales and rhymes, they reached
the Steppes of Eurasia where the ancestors of the Ancient Greeks
still winnowed grains and herded flocks.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
angry Poseidon—don't be afraid of them
After the paying
tribute to the god, leaving the oar behind, the duo
took the
road to Ithaka. We are always returning to where we
have
never
been.
