In Australian Aboriginal culture, when sunlight strikes water at a certain angle,
the Rainbow Serpent is seen undulating across the entire color spectrum, its span uniting spirit and matter. Here, curling waves of the moon's tug are
perhaps the roaring monster Chumash tales describe as living in "a
celestial ocean near the Land-of- the-Dead...who would rise from
the water and give out a loud cry when a soul drew near."

A lover of rain, I dream of the sun blowing flames of dragonian heat onto this spectral world. While, returned to earth, "when the moon's rocks are turned over in the imaginative hand, then ideas, songs, dreams, dances—essences
of mind—emerge."
