What the Elders
passed down to us is still closer
to writing in
the
broadest sense than to a work of art; it is symbolic transposition
and not a copy of reality tracking "sclerotic
rigor
on one side,
a lively but unreliable creation on the the other."
Bending
the curve towards zero,

almost
circled.
wild mustard: An "invasive" plant, "Mustard
opens blood vessels allowing the circulatory system to draw out
toxins and letting blood flow increase." Survuval Weekly,
May 3, 2010.
closer to writing: A. Leroi-Gourhan. In,
M. Lorblanchet and P. Bahn, The First Artists. London,
2017.
sclerotic rigor: A. Laming-Emperaire.
Quoted in, G. Curtis, The Cave Painters. New
York, 2006.
Bending the curve: J.
Rogel. "Bending the global emissions curve on to a
global trajectory towards net zero is really the first
and foremost task we have to tackle with great urgency” In,
O. Milman, "Global Heating Could Stabilize If Net
Zero Emissions Achieved, Scientists Say." The
Guardian, Jan 7, 2021.
The circle: W.
Whitman. From, “Leaves of Grass.” (1860)
